⏱ 45 min total Prep 10m Cook 35m Serves 6 bowls Easy American By Steven

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 is fine)
  • 1 whole onion (diced)
  • 2 clove garlic (minced)
  • 2 can kidney or pinto beans (15 oz, drained)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14–15 oz)
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water or broth

Steps

  1. 1
Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up. Drain most of the fat if needed.
  2. 2
Add onion and cook until soft, about 4 minutes. Stir in garlic for 30 seconds.
  3. 3
Add beans, tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and water. Stir well.
  4. 4
Simmer uncovered 20–25 minutes, stirring now and then, until thick. Taste and adjust salt.
  5. 5
Serve with crackers, shredded cheese, or rice if you have them.
