Stovetop Mac and Cheese
Creamy cheese sauce, no bake time — ready before the kids get impatient.
Ingredients
- 12 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cup milk
- 2 cup shredded cheddar (or cheese blend)
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- paprika or hot sauce (to taste)

Boil macaroni in salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside.

In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour; cook 1 minute.

Slowly whisk in milk. Cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens slightly, 3–5 minutes.

Turn heat low. Stir in cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.

Fold in the pasta. Add a splash of milk if it gets too thick. Serve hot.
